vaucluse house wedding

emily & elliot

Timing is everything.

The amount of it is not.

These two met, a few years before they got together, when Em booked Elliot to have a look at her back which was giving her some pain. He remember’s thinking she was witty, and gorgeous. She remembers leaving thinking huh, that was a hot Canadian (spoiler alert - he’s not Canadian). They clearly had chemistry, and they had it in swathes. But the time was not yet ripe.

So, a couple of years and early relationships later - and with not a single interaction since - Em stumbled across Elliot online and immediately remembered the sexy Canuck. They chatted briefly and made plans to meet.

Scene - a trendy Bondi bar on a weeknight, mere minutes into the second meeting. A waitress comments on how much fun they are having and asks how long they had been together - evidently assuming they were somewhere in the middle honeymoon phase where laughter and joy and connection is sometimes most obvious from the outside - when in fact they had only been on their first date for a grand total of about 15 minutes. In a way they had known one another for years, and in a way it felt like they had. They fell, hard and fast.

Since then little if nothing has changed, except to deepen some things, and lend real years to the assumed ones. These are two people that clearly find obscene amounts of joy in both life and one another.

And so it led to this. An intimate group of people gathered to watch them say some words and make some promises, with Em’s family streaming in from the Emerald Isle. A slightly less intimate crowd brought in immediately afterwards to celebrate and party and share in the communal exultation.

So, here’s to timing. To living up to random waitress’ assumptions. To shared joy. To the power of technology to make people’s presence felt even from half a globe away. To pets and kids and community and stupid amounts of laughter the whole time you are off taking photos, and your whole life really.

To Emily and Elliot, and the gloriously joy filled life they are building together.

Enjoy

PS. It would be remiss for me not to mention the insane amount of effort and co-ordination that went into making this one for the history books.
