For once, I feel like I’m not sure I have the words to do this day, these people, justice.

They only met a couple of short years ago at a bar one night and very quickly went from single, to together, to living in a shoebox inner-city apartment, to getting engaged, to having a child (Lily - only 9 weeks old one the da of the wedding), getting married, and living in a beautiful semi in the suburbs. I say this not to present any of these as measures of success or failure but just to show the life changing power someone can have when they come into your life at the right time, and how monumentally these two have changed each other’s live in a relatively short span. This was such a beautiful, heart filled day that from an outsiders perspective these two meeting and having a child and getting married seemed completely inevitable, when even just the chances of them meeting were anything but.

I was taken aback by his unbridled larrakinism, her grace and heart and poise, the closeness of her family - in particular Ange with her sisters - the amount of sheer fun and shared joy they seem to bring out in one another and by the range of naked emotions on display.

I’ve said it before, but one of my favourite things about weddings are that they’re also an excuse and reason to celebrate ALL the love in your life. To critically think about and thank all the people that have gotten you to where you are, shaped the way you view the world, or have just been there for the highs and the lows. On this day, at this wedding, the whole day was beautiful but I feel like the reception is where much of the story unfolded, where much of this community and family was celebrated. During the speeches friends and family came to sit next to each of them to clutch hands whilst tears rolled down cheeks, nieces started sympathetically crying for mums, long silent embraces were shared, and when it was done and dusted it all turned into a raucous party.

Everyone has a story worth telling. I hope I did this one justice.
