They say how you do anything is how you do everything.

Shi-Ling and Jacob fell early and they fell hard. They were still practically kids in many ways when they met, at a time when cram sessions and college hazing was still a thing. It’s clear the intervening years of support and entanglement and the ups and downs of life have caused them to have had a huge mutual impact on one another. These are, most say, some of the most formative years of your life - they came through a period when most are forming their own sense of identity as individuals as well as their sense of identity as a couple. That takes strength and perseverance and intention and, dare I say, shining examples of the ability to make such a relationship work in each of their sets of parents. Yes, you have to get lucky in some ways to meet the love of your life so young, but that is just the first step of many.

They are both powerhouses in their own way - each with burgeoning highly successful careers, swathes of people from every chapter of their lives in attendace, and are clearly still deeply in love almost a decade down the track. Each of these things speak to two people who approach everything of import in their lives with the deepest of intention and care.

And so, after 9 years of growth and adventure and beauty and the mundane - and if you are lucky - you get something like this. You might even get sung to.
