Families are what we make of them,

Weddings are about two people, but they are also about all the stories and relationships and histories that are brought to it, that we choose to provide a platform for and celebrate.

For me, this sense of community was particularly palpable on this day. Almost every speech mentioned how good and loyal a friend and family member each of Rach and Ben are. How deeply they care. The lengths they go to for those they care about.

This is perhaps most personified in Ben’s daughter, a happy and a confident a little girl as I’ve ever seen, who is clearly loved indescribable amounts by each of them. This is the family they have chosen.

These are two people who clearly bring unbelievable amounts of joy to one another’s lives, and who know how to have a damn good time in the process.

And so, here we were. The stupidly scenic Seacliff House in Gerringong and a blustery but beautiful summers day. The always phenomenal Married By Allegra got them married, and they did the rest.
