marianne & Alex

Marianne and Alex have already been together for over 10 years. They met at a house party Alex attended through a friend he had met playing video games online and was the only one he knew at the whole affair. They quickly bonded over their love of video games and Alex’s passion for craft beer (he had some in test tubes stashed across him - it was a dress up party)and struck up one oft those conversations that meanders and twists and turns and ends up going for hours. Marianne, half way through the night, starting to feeling some feelings and currently dressed as a man - moustache and all - decided discretion to be the better part of valour and went to the bathroom to make herself look a little more herself. Alex didn’t even notice.

Each of them, I think it is safe to say, have healed the other in ways they didn’t know they needed. Each, has through sustained and unwavering support over a literal decade, built the other one up. Together they have built a life they wouldn’t trade for the world and have pushed and supported one another to accomplish things they mightn’t have otherwise.

This was a lesson in how it a wedding should be done. Intentionally and with thought and joy and introspection and as a reflection of who you are as individuals and together. At a craft brewery up the coast with all those they care about, a close friend officiating and with a few arcade games for people to wile away the night between dance sessions. What a time.

So. Here’s to Marianne. And Alex. And Marianne and Alex. To craft beers and drunken button mashing battles to the death. To having the balls to go to house parties even though you literally know a single soul. To friends who go the extra mile to become a celebrant just for you. To the new family you are building and all the love and intention you are putting into it.

Also - particular shout out to Leisha from Chameleon Directive without who ensured the day ran smoother than a baby’s butt despite a few curve balls thrown our way.
