Laura & ricardo
pier one wedding
Holy hell, what a party.
This was a story long in the making. Laura and Ricardo first met at uni through mutual friends and Ricardo immediately took a shining to Laura. So, deciding that discretion was the better part of valour, he started auspiciously just happening to turn up outside her lectures as they were finishing with his mates he had talked into accompanying him so he had a reason to bump into her. Borderline stalker-esque behaviour, but sweet nonetheless. That was roughly a decade, or ten-years-of-being-together-ago.
A big love story deserves a big celebration, and this was one for the books. From the 30 odd people that wandered in and out of Laura's parents place all morning, to the 200 or so that turned out for the ceremony and reception, there was a huge sense of community (and joyous fun for that matter) all day. It was clear that their coming together has had a profound impact on not just each of them, but all those around them as well.
It couldn't have all been for two more genuine, kind-hearted people.
Things to keep an eye out for
- Nonna. Seeing Laura all made up for the first time at the start of the day, and then being gifted Laura's bouquet at the end. She had had a stroke only the week before, but got day leave and hung out all day to be there.
- Little kids being little kids at the ceremony by climbing all over the stage at inappropriate times and appearing to pray to lego stormtroopers
- Laura's brother being overwhelmed with emotion outside the church after the ceremony
- The wildest dance floor I have seen in quite some time. Shirts off, people on shoulders, everyone on their knees, the whole nine yards.
- Laura and Ricardo overwhelmed and embracing on their knees in the middle of their closest at the very end of the night
There were two big takeaways from this one.
A - Community is everything
B - Stalking can sometimes pay off
Enjoy
