These two met by chance at the end of a driveway, whilst both leaving a mutual friend’s party in their early 20s. Since then they’ve renovated houses, 4-wheel-driven around much of Australia, are raising a dog and are building the beginnings of a life together. People grow and mature into who they are a lot between their early and late twenties, and they've done it all side by side, influencing and guiding and supporting one another along the way.

For the two of them, the day was as much about celebrating and being grateful for all the people in their lives as much as it was about them. During his speech Joel spoke about how observing his mum’s selflessness and generosity were some of his most formative experiences, traits that were clearly passed onto him and which were reflected back at them by the vast array of people present and by the warmth in the room.

The sentiment quickly descended (or ascended?) into joyous revelry literally the second the two of them walked into the reception room, with the pounding of drums inciting every man, woman, child and grandma to move before the night had even begun.
