Gavroche Chippendale Wedding

Ally & James

Don’t be afraid to break the rules, but don’t feel compelled to either.

Ally (AKA the illegitimate love child of Elizabeth Taylor and Dita Von Teese) and James (the legitimate child of two loving parents) are both creatives. She loves fashion and design and makes a living designing video games (a woman after my own adolescent heart). He writes and loves a well turned phrase (..a man after my own adult heart). She fell fast. He fell slowly, and then all at once.

They met up outside the Old Clare as the sun disappeared to settle some nerves and spend some time together before all the joyful chaos to come, before wandering into a French Bistro and being greeted by all their closest. After an hour or so of cavorting, cocktails and more hors d'œuvres you could poke a stick at, they sauntered over to the bar with full bellies and light spirits - both metaphorically and with literal spirits in hand - to make some promises, share some words, and bask in the uplift and revelry of their community. They ducked outside for a quick walk around the block to reflect on it all for a minute, before heading back upstairs to hear some more words, share some more words, and give and receive increasingly drunken declarations of love. It was them. It was joyful. It flew in the face of convention in more ways than one.

How moving and beautiful a wedding is has little to do with the exact when and where, the style that it presents or the vibe it tries to capture and everything to do with the sincerity and connection at its core, and how it reflects the two people in the middle of it all.

All it needs to do is reflect who you are. Whats important to you. What you love. Who you love. The experience you want to gift to people - and to yourself. That can be traditional in whatever sense that means to you. It can wildly fly in the face of convention. It can do both at the same time.

So, do what you want. Get married in a Church with 200 attendees. Get married in a bowling alley with 6 people and then go on a pub crawl. Nothing is wrong. Nothing is right. Incidentally, the same sentiment could be said for photography, but thats a conversation for another time.

Enjoy
