deus cafe wedding

daisy & Jonas

Coming home.

That is what, to me, it sounded like it felt like when Daisy and Jonas met one other. An immediate sense of comfort, of ease, a beguiling mix of safety and tension. A sense that, huh, so here is that feeling that everyone talks about and dares to hope to find.

They met at an interesting time. They were both actively dating, had both been through relationships that they had recognised weren’t right for various reasons. And then came one afternoon drink at a bar in Glebe where Daisy was 45 minutes late, and Jonas - ever the gentlemen - insisted he had only been there for 10. 16 days later they had already seen each other 9 times, and within a month Daisy was having dinner with Jonas’ family. They, quite simply, knew.

And so it led to this. A drizzly La Nina day where all and sundry were packed into the glorious Deus Cafe in Camperdown and were encouraged to stand within mere metres of where the two of them were standing. Things promised and words shared and histories revealed and all within a raucously good party.

These are people who clearly both fiercely love and are in turn loved by their circles. Who care about community and who’s community gives that care back in spades (two examples - pretty much all the vendors were people in their inner west community who they are connected to in some way and they even got band tour style tee’s made up with all their logos on the back, multiple people also stood up from their seats to come give Daisy a hug during her speech).

So, here’s to knowing. To mid speech displays of affection. To surprise dress reveals. To dad’s proudly listening to speeches with eyes closed and tears rolling down their cheeks.

To Daisy and Jonas, and to coming home wherever you may be.

Enjoy
