Lauren and Hugh

Backyard wedding newcastle

Lauren and Hugh two met in college, when parties and hazings and last minute cramming were much more of a thing than committed relationships and any concept of long term.

Rumour has it they met in the bathrooms while a sober Hugh was cleaning his teeth, when a just returned from a party Lauren, upon seeing this cute fella she’d seen around the College alone and in her vicinity, plonked herself down on the floor and asked him what his favourite dinosaur was. It was a bold move.

It clearly worked. And they were both all in, very quickly.

Like many, their original plans were thrown into severe disarray when this year went as it did. However, with barely a few days either side they managed to get all their (slightly reduced) guests in from almost every state in Australia, as well as a cheeky international one, and one special guest who was present all morning in the form of a macbook and an internet connection (..keep an eye out for her seeing Lauren dressed for the first time). Instead of the big venue, they and their families spent weeks toiling and digging and painting and planting in the backyard of their newly purchased house to make it ready to host some nuptials.

Now every time they walk into the backyard they’ll have a tangible reminder of the memories they made, of what they felt. They’ll see where they stood when they made promises to one another in front of their families, be reminded of the community that rallied around them to support and celebrate them when they needed it. What more could you want?

Enjoy
