anchovy bandit adelaide wedding
laura & josh

This is Laura and Josh. Two of the (as evidenced here) most joyful human beings on the planet, smashing some pre-wedding cannoli together, leading a brass band on a march down the street to a long lunch at Anchovy Bandit, rockin’ a disco outfit change for an after party at a pub, getting their portraits done on the street after dark, and generally doing whatever they hell they wanted.
They are early adopters. They met on E-Harmony (Tinder is for newbs). After a bit of chat, Laura agreed to meet Josh in a back alley (..it was the entrance to his house, but a back alley nonetheless). 6 weeks later they had moved in together. 9 years later, here we are.
Many commented on how wonderfully rockin’ they are as individuals, but how devastatingly incredible they are together. How clearly they lift and support and inspire and push one another to succeed.
But to me they were, are - and hopefully always will be - defined by their incredible shared joy of living. Laura is an award winning art director and Josh is doing incredible things at Apple. They clearly work their butts off. But these are two people who are intentional. Who work hard when they have to and enjoy the shit out of life when they don’t.
Something I was struck by while we walked the streets of Adelaide together was how they could switch from cerebral discussion to side splitting child like laughter in an instant. They have both an intense sense of purpose and of play together. They have found in one another someone that allows them to be their most self-actualised, creative and adult selves and simultaneously their most child like. Did they both already have that in them before they met? Probably. Is it magnified by the fact of their being together? Undoubtedly.
So, here’s to intention. To taking a chance and meeting a stranger off the internet in a back alley (…maybe don’t do this at home). To making a wedding day whatever the hell you want it to be. To ricotta cannoli. To shared joy. To literally stopping traffic as 70 odd ppl sing the refrain to sexual healing backed by a brass band. To Laura and Josh and decades of joy.
This is how you wedding.
Enjoy
Dane
