Hey legends

2018 really solidified for me that, other than obviously trying to create work that is aesthetically beautiful, I want more than anything to capture some part of people’s personality in every image. I want to document a wedding in such a way that someone who has never met the people involved can look at a set of images and get a real sense of who they are, what brings them joy, who they love, whether they are a larrikin and the life of the party or a quiet, contemplative soul, what their relationship is like, and to feel even a small fraction of what the people were feeling in those moments. A few big epic landscapes are always nice but in general beautiful isn't enough, not even by a long shot.

And so, whilst not really a best of this is a small collection of some of favourite moments and people and emotions and reactions from the year that just passed. I hope most of the images give you a sense of the people that are in them.

If not, there’s always next year.

I’ve said it many times, but to the people that have and trust and give me intimate access to their lives for a day, I can’t thank you enough. I love this job.

2018 was my first full calendar year in this crazy job, and I can’t fucking wait to see what the next few hold.
