young hearts and ancient traditions

eden gardens wedding

I must admit that, going into this, I had little idea what to expect. Meena is first generation Indian and, in order to keep with centuries of tradition, had dual Hindu / western ceremonies, one right after the other. Never have I been to a wedding where the ceremony itself seemed so infused with celebration. Eden Gardens became a riot of colour and people cheered, laughed, threw rice and witnessed a joyous, reverential, and ancient form of marriage take place (while meanwhile, the most stoic flute player of all time sat in the direct sunlight and belted out hypnotic music for an hour straight, but I digress).

In this way, two cultures were drawn together, in this big melting pot we call home. And the two people at the centre of it all couldn't have been happier.
