I’m a bit of a sucker for a romantic story, and this one ticks all the boxes.

Kate and Pete met in the backyard of a London house party (Pete’s a native, Kate was was doing the old working holiday) and immediately hit it off. The next night they had dinner and a bottle of wine together and were both aware that something unique was in the air. Unfortunately, (or fortunately as it turned out), Kate’s visa was coming to an end in less than 3 months, after which she had to return to Australia. Seeing her off at the airport, Pete later declared at their wedding (spoiler alert – this story has a happy ending), was the saddest moment of his life. In order to allay his grief, Pete, in a beautiful, romantic, hope-filled gesture, decided to follow Kate to the other side of the globe after only a few dozen days and nights together, and they’ve called this beautiful part of the world home ever since.

Fast forward a few years and they hosted an unbelievable, Australiana themed wedding, inspired by their mutual love of the Australian landscape and this place they both love to call home on a steamy, sunny January day.

It all took place on Rodd Island in Iron Cove and was full of native flowers, lawn games and love and descended into a mid-afternoon dance party on the lawn.

It was beautiful.

PS Did I mention Pete is a national kayaking champion?
